Studio Ghibli reveals its God Warrior

Watch the first live action film from Japan's premier studio

Giant monsters are going to take over this summer. Not content with Guillermo Del Toro's epic looking Pacific Rim, Studio Ghibli's Miyazaki has thrown his artistic hat in the ring and designed a creature to destroy Tokyo.

Called Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo (Kyōshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru), this movie short has been directed by Higuchi Shinji and was commissioned by Anno Hideaki, both of whom worked on the classic Evangelion series.

Miyazaki himself designed the God Warrior creature seen here, and there are few better who can create unique monsters than the Studio Ghibli man. A tribute to the classic 70s 'tokusatsu' movies, this is an explosive short that could point to something bigger on the horizon.

If this has wet your appetite, then pick up ImagineFX issue 95 where you can find an interview with concept Pacific Rim's artist Alex Jaeger and read up on what it takes to design an epic mech.
