Who said that the apocalypse has to be depressing? Take a look at the optimistic Reasons to Smile by Elena Ciolacu.

In Elena's vision of what a post- apocalyptic city would feel like, it's nice to see that despite the ruin and decay of what the world has become, there's still a sense of hope to be found.

This piece successfully creates a subtle balance of destruction and progress – there's certainly no shortage of chaos, but at least it seems like it's not enough to stop people fighting to survive. Elena has created a brilliant sense of narrative here, and it really pays off.
